Using Connection Length

The Connection Length feature elevates your project planning and execution by providing detailed insights into the length of basic Connections and Cable Pathways. In order to utilize the feature, a few steps must be taken first by an Administrator for each Account.

Set a Unit of Measurement 

1. Select an Account
2. Go to Settings


3. Choose a Unit of Measurement, then click the Update Information button. The default setting is Feet.

Set Plan Scale

Connection Lengths are only available on Plans that have a Scale value entered in the Plan Library.
To set the Scale value:
1. Go to the Plan Library
2. Select the Plan to edit by clicking its thumbnail image
3. Click the Set Plan Scale button on the Plan preview image


4. Set the Plan Scale by clicking two points on the Plan for which you know the measurements, such as a doorway. A blue line will indicate your selected points.
6. Input a value into the Real Distance of Line field at the bottom of the screen, then click the Save button. This value can be updated later if needed. 

Using Connection Length 

Once you have set a Unit of Measurement and Plan Scale, you will have access to the Connection Length feature on the scaled Plan (both in Projects and Live Sites). 
Overall Plan Scale is shown in the bottom right of the plan. The calculated length of a connection is shown in the Connections section of the Device Edit PanelAdditionally, Connection lines on the Plan display their lengths when hovered over with your mouse.
